RIGSY Modules

Programmable power for the bench and the control rack.

A controller needs 5 V, the lighting needs 12 V, and another part wants something different again. Before long, there are converters and power leads everywhere. I’m developing RIGSY to bring those adjustments into one place, with a clearer view of what each channel is doing.

Two first versions

Rack and Bench

RIGSY Rack

For escape-room builders, interactive installations and control cabinets. Wired Ethernet control, accessible connections and clear channel status are part of the intended design.

RIGSY Bench

For makers developing and testing projects. The same channel approach in a desktop format, with a clear display, physical controls and software control for repeatable setups.

Both first versions are planned with six independently controlled DC channels and one shared controller and backplane architecture.

What we’re working towards

Individual channel settings

Voltage, current limit and on/off control for each channel.

Channel feedback

Voltage, current and fault status reported for each channel.

Two output modes

Regulated DC, plus a separate PWM dimming mode for compatible LED loads.

Local timing & software control

Fades handled locally, with documented software control.

Development targets

2–24 V output · up to 2 A per channel

We’ll confirm the final ratings through prototype testing.

Power and connections

  • Common-ground outputs; channels must not be connected in series or parallel.
  • Powered from an external DC supply, with extra voltage headroom needed above the required output.
  • Total power and cooling requirements will be established during testing.

Where development stands

The single-channel circuit and PCB layout are ready, and we have assembly quotes. Next we’ll build and bench-test the first channel, then develop the shared controller, backplane and six-channel Rack and Bench versions.

  1. 01Achieved

    Circuit, PCB & simulation

Single-channel circuit and routed PCB designed; control software explored in simulation.

  2. 02Upcoming

    Single-channel testing

Build and test the first physical prototype.

  3. 03Upcoming

    Multi-channel system

Multi-channel operation, shared controller and backplane.

  4. 04Upcoming

    Enclosures & production preparation

Rack and Bench enclosures, then preparing for production.

Control that can fit your project

We’re developing RIGSY as an independent platform, with COGS as our first integration target. We’ve started exploring commands and feedback in a software simulator; testing with real hardware comes next. A documented interface is also planned so builders can connect RIGSY to other applications.

A wider module family

Future ideas

  • Digital I/O
  • RFID
  • Servo & motor control
  • Sensor interfaces
  • RF actuators

Rack and Bench power units come first. We’re also exploring portable and cabinet formats, alongside further control modules as the platform develops.

Questions

Can I buy RIGSY yet?

We’re building towards the first prototypes. Get in touch if you’d like to discuss an application or help shape development.

What will the first versions be?

Six-channel Rack and Bench units, built around a shared controller and modular power channels.

Are the channels isolated?

They share a common ground, with each channel controlled separately. Channels must not be connected in series or parallel.

Does it work with COGS?

COGS is our first integration target. We’re exploring the controls in simulation, with hardware integration testing to follow.
